SquadEase's mission is to flip the freelancing industry upside down, by starting local, cultivating talent and generating demand one community at a time. We believe the best working relationships are built face-to-face, and the strongest economies are built from within.

The Start Squad Ecosystem

SquadEase is the SaaS platform managed by The Start Squad, but we're just one part of a larger ecosystem designed to create pathways to self-employment and financial independence.

The Start Squad Academy (Nonprofit)

Our nonprofit arm partners with community colleges and workforce development organizations nationwide through NACCE (National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship). We meet aspiring entrepreneurs where they are, providing accessible pathways to self-employment regardless of background or prior experience.

ETI + STEP (Non-Profit SaaS)

Participants start with the Entrepreneurial Type Indicator (ETI)—a psychometric assessment to discover their entrepreneurial strengths. Then the Success Training in Entrepreneurship Program (STEP) builds high-demand skills across 8 knowledge services categories.

SquadEase (For-Profit SaaS)

For STEP graduates who aren't quite ready to take the entrepreneurial leap on their own, SquadEase provides a supported pathway. As 1099 freelancers on our platform, they build portfolios, gain real-world experience, and earn income while serving local businesses.

The Start Squad (For-Profit Parent Company)

The Start Squad ties it all together, generating local demand market-by-market and managing the SquadEase platform. Starting in Gainesville, Florida, we're proving the model before expanding across the country—strengthening regional economies by keeping contract dollars circulating within communities while providing equitable pathways to income.

Damian Niolet

Founder & CEO

Damian brings over 10 years of freelancing experience to SquadEase. After transitioning from the U.S. Air Force in 2015, he experienced firsthand the challenges of building a freelance career and the disconnect between businesses seeking talent and knowledge professionals seeking opportunity.

With a Master of Entrepreneurship and deep roots in the Gainesville community, Damian is building the platform he wished existed when he started his freelancing journey.
